Use old Tivo without service????

I have an old Philips HDR 212 which has been in my basement for years (went to DirecTV). I just want to use it to record some home movies. I don't want new Tivo service but when I boot the unit I can't get by the screens requiring me to call Tivo. Does any one know how to by pass this process?

There's no harm in letting it make the call. You will get nag screens but you should be able to use it anyway.

If a Clear and Delete Everything had been done, you need to have TiVo reauthorize the recording without a sub, If that is the case, send user TiVoJerry a PM and ask that he do that, include your TiVo service number. Wait a day or so and then tell the TiVo to "make a daily call". That should take care of it.
