Hi all.

Sorry if this has been asked many times before.

I am trying to upgrade my brother's Tivo with a new 250Gb drive. I have taken an image of my drive, and I am trying to restore it onto his New drive.

Primary master is the FAT32 drive with the tivo.bak image (just over 1Gb).
Secondary master is the Samsung 250Gb drive.
Secondary slave is the CD Drive.

When I run the restore command, I get the following message:

Restore Failed: Backup target not large enough for entire backup by itself.

When I look at linux, it's reporting the new drive as 250Gb, so I don't think the drive needs to be unlocked ?

My minimal backup was taken from 2 x 160Gb drives, but I wouldn't have thought that this would have made any difference would it ? Any help would be gladly received.

David.

I would guess that you didn't divorce your backup, 320GB>250GB therefore it will not restore.

You will need a divorced backup ( 40GB ) and restore and expand that.

Check this thread (http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?p=2717775#post2717775) and use my DeleteAll script to clear out your recordings before re-doing the backup.

As my brother is a 3 hour drive from my home, I have decided to 'cut my losses' and have done an upgrade from his original drive.

Thanks for the info though.

David.
