Do Not Get Direct Tv DVR unless you want to get overcharged. The DVR service itself is good, but the company is full of dishonest people. Tyler of DirecTV said we would get an automatic rebate of $100, yet were were overcharged by $100.
With sales tax the overcharge was $106.67. We spent 45 minutes on the phone with no one wanting to help us.

Just hit them in the face 4 or 5 times.. then they should give you your rebate.

The R-15 isn't that bad it has some bugs but they are working on them of course it is not a Tivo by any means. But it could be worse it could be a dish DVR. :D

I have a R-15 and it is not a Tivo by any means but it is still a good DVR to me.

There is one thing that makes the R15 shine. You can pause it right away when you tune to a channel, without having to wait to build up a buffer. I find this a real plus !

I'm not sure I understand psweig. The TiVo does that too. I know I must not be understanding what you mean. Can you elaborate?

On both the HDVR2 and the DVR40 I have to wait for the buffer to accumulate before I can pause the program. If I try to pause when I have just changed channels it won't stay, it just resumes play.

Sounds like you are changing channels and not tuners, which once you change channels you will lose the buffer. Hit pause then hit livetv to change tuners, then change channels.
