Are you satisfied with your DLP HDTV set? How many have had to replace Their projection bulb since they got it.

Love love love mine. Haven't had it long enough to worry about bulb replacement though.

The sole problem (and dealbreaker) is the viewing angles. It's great if you're using it for nothing other than a home theater, but if you want to get up and get a snack while keeping an eye on the TV, or maybe sit on the floor and do some laundry your view is ruined. You have to be smack dab in front of it.

18 months, same bulb. Great picture.
Love it.
Been using it for 18months.
Had to replace the bulb in the first 3 months (warranty), fine ever since....

I looked all over this past weekend and all the projection models that looked like DLP were actually CRT. The one DLP that looked to be in the right price range was sorta cheap looking and priced higher than a plasma I found at Sams, so I ended up with a plasma a little smaller than the DLP's.

Love the picture! :D
Bulb went out after one year. Died during the Rose Bowl Parade.
Had to watch all the bowl games in SD. Boy, was I
Toshiba sent me a free one under warranty, but I also bought a spare ($200) for next year's bowl games. ;)

I believe the new Sammy DLP sets, due out later this year, will use LEDs rather than a conventional bulb.

I love my DLP. It is one of the few purchases I have ever made where every time I look at it I say to myself, "Wow. That is an amazing picture. I am sooooooo glad I bought this."
Had it 1.5 years now and still on the original bulb.
I like my DLP (RCA Scenium or whatnot)... but I wouldn't buy it again: the colour wheel spinning is too audible, and the delay between audio and video is aggravating.
I love the fact that I don't have to worry about burn-in, however.

Same here. My Samsung 41" DLP is almost exactly a year old. Same bulb, and everything's been looking and sounding great. None of the audio delay, color wheel noise, etc. problems mentioned by other people.

That's a lot of bulbs. Have you had problems with power outages? Sudden turn off can shorten the life of the bulbs since the fan doesn't have a chance to cool things down when the power goes out.

Hmm, must be the brand. We just bought a Samsung and the main reason *is* the wide viewing angle and the fact that we have no interruption from sun. With our old TV, I felt like a vampire - I had to keep the drapes closed all day. Actually, most of the time I watched *myself* b/c all I could see was my reflection.
love my samsung!! Haven't had it long enough for new bulb but I'm afraid we're going to be bummed - we watch a *lot* of TV and expect we'll get much faster burnout rates than the average person.

It's not the horizontal angle that's the problem, it's the vertical one. If I stand up, my DLP is noticably darker. The best picture by far is if your eyes are at the same level as the screen. I can go left and right and not have any problems whatsoever.

I've had my 50" Samsung DLP for about 3 years now, and I love it. Still on the origional bulb. I only watch about 10-20 hours each week. As for the audio out of sync, yeah it sucks. But when I run the audio through my A/V receiver there is enough of a delay to sync it up. My biggest complaint is there are only about 8 HD channels from my cable company, and I don't want to switch to Direct TV.
I'm really looking forward to those Series 3 boxes.

I love mine so far. But only had it a month.

I used to work part-time at a high-end HT store. We sold an awesome Louve 51 inch (I think) DLP TV. Kicked a$$. Though it cost a pretty penny. You could also buy it with a motorized stand that allowed you to rotate the TV with your remote.

I just setup a home theater in my basement and I have an Infocus 4805 w/ DLP and I think it is great. My wife and myself were both surprised how great it looks. Rarely does a product exceed my expectations. DLP is working for me!
