Direct TV Tivo able to work with cable box?

A friend has generously offered to give me his old Direct TV Tivo (he's moved to a hi-def setup), but I have cable. Is a DTV Tivo able to control a cable box via IR blasters like my Series one Tivo?

No. DirecTivo's only work with Directv.

No. The DirecTV TiVO is a DirecTV receiver with a TiVo integrated into it.
