I've had a feeling that one of the satellite clocks is off again for the past couple of weeks, but last night it was bad enough that I had a 30-minute show record as 29 minutes due to the time change when switching channels. Where's the D* person who monitors our complaints here?

clocks have been off on the HDtivos for a while now. I do hate missing the first minute of each show but what can you do?

I've had a feeling that one of the satellite clocks is off again....I think that the batteries for the satellites only cost a couple of bucks - its the installation fee that kills em. :D

I've noticed the programs recording for 29 min., 1 hr. 3 min., and other odd times but to be truthful I haven't had any programs that were started late. If anything, I may have missed the "next week on....." portion but I usually stop and delete before that anyway.

i did that and did regret it. Padding throws off other shows if they follow immediately behind and you've got as many season passes as many of us have..
needless to say, I stopped padding after the mess it made..

You need the Endpad Plus hack. It pads every program a user definable amount before and after unless that padding would cause a recording conflict. It's an awesome hack and TiVo should be ashamed they don't include this feature for their customers.

He/she is at DirecTv doing their job which does not include monitoring an independent internet users forum. If you want to communicate with them, call or write them.

That is slightly different..
Some shows ARE scheduled for 29 minutes, or 63 minutes (take the last two episodes of American Idol for example... they where both 63 minutes)

Where are the dedicated people out there who are always able to chime in with "oh yeah, it's transponder 5 on the 101 that's off" etc? I know about padding, I know that shows can be an odd length, but that isn't what this thread is about. It's about me being too lazy to put in the work to figure out which clock is actually off.

Then it's also likely about you being disappointed.

I guess some people here are too busy keeping up their high post count to remember an old thread (http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?t=272317). I'm just hoping, that's all. Please. Pretty please.

I recently zippered my Series 2 DTiVos and man, Endpad Plus is an amazing utility. Last night I was going through log files just to see what is now going on on these boxes and the Endpad plus hack logfile is pretty cool to read (one time  ). Very smart and I don't miss the front or end of shows now (i've set it to do 2 mins on the front and back. Sure I have to fast forward through the end of shows now, but there have been some that Started shortly after Endpad plus started so I would have missed 1+ minutes (sad that we are so tied to programs we complain about missing a tiny slice... :p )

I've been with DirecTV for over three years and read a lot of these type of threads. I've never once seen this problem myself. Maybe I don't watch as much TV as I thought.

Well this old thread goes into great detail on what some people did a couple of years ago to get his fix. Maybe somebody could use this to see if the one really helpfull user is still around.

I noticed today that my clock was off by about 2.5 minutes. After reading a bunch of threads and doing some experiments it appears that the clock on transponder 8 (was tuned to MSNBC) is off. Has anyone else seen this problem recently?

There have been more times recently when it has seemed like it may have been consistently off a minute or so, but it hasn't happened often enough for me to investigate thoroughly. Like I'll notice a few recordings I made last weekend all seemed to be off, but the recording I made last night isn't, so.... Last I checked it seemed to be a few (3-5) seconds slow on various transponders.
