I just got DTV installed for the first time, and I got the DVR version of the reciever the R15 and I have a couple noobish questions.

Is there a way to be just watching a channel and hit a couple buttons on my remote and add it to my favorites list ?

Also I notice this DVR has a couple of USB ports, I'm wondering is their anyway to pull shows that i've recorded off of it?

TIA.

Check out www.dbstalk.com for more on the R-15. Some dont like it to be discussed here as its not a Tivo DVR.

Curious as to why not? People here wish that the R15 would go away but it really is the heir apparent to the DVR throne.

The R15 is not a TiVo powered DVR. Since this is a TiVo forum, many of us including myself don't have the R15 and can't be of much help. I've read about the R15 in other forums, but that's not the same as owning one. If you have any specific questions about DirecTV with TiVo or any TiVo, I'll be glad to help. Welcome to the wonderful world of Digital Video Recording.

I agree with what your saying, but in reality over the next couple of years Tivo will probably die as a company (at least for Directv products). If that occurs this forum will follow suit. Wouldn't it be better to have the R15 people posting here also so as the current Tivo people switch over (units do die, or the addition of a 2nd DTV) they can benefit of the knowledge already experienced?

There have been a number of threads as to why this decision was made. There really isn't any point in discussing it further.

This is a board for TiVo users.

As SullyND stated, this is not needed.
