Channels I receive??

Do I really need to "check" or "uncheck" the channels I receive manually? Isn't there a shortcut way to tell the receiver that I have the "total choice package"?

When I was on dish network, they just knew what I received and would automatically populate the guide with ONLY those channels. Even during a free HBO preview the HBO channels would automatically appear for the weekend then disappear when the preview was over. No such luck with DTV?

FYI I've got an R10 and a Samsung 4080.

Nope, you need to check/uncheck. The best way is to do it through your "favorite channels". If you do the channels you receive, certain channels (shopping) can come back on you each and every day. But on the favorites, it's a set it and forget it.

Set chs I receive to the chs you actually get then set favorites to a subset of those that way TiVo knows about the chs you actually get for recordings but you only see the ones you want.

BTW: the chs that are added by DTV are mostly ones that have no content that TiVo will autorecord or they are PPV and TiVo does not autorecord from them either.
