I can't get Channel 5, has anyone else had this?

Do you have any other channels missing? Sounds like your update could have missed a MUX.
Try a full search - depending on the box it could be under "initial setup"

five is on Mux-A. The other channels that would be missing if you don't have that are 16 QVC, 15 ABC1, 23Bid tv, 24 Price-drop tv

This sounds suspiciously like what happened to my parents. I spent a while over Christmas trying to sort out their Ch5, but eventually had to set the TiVo to pick it up off analogue.
I will check the other channels next time I am there (none of them is one that my parents would ever use - in fact, I think I specifically deselected these ones in "Channels You Receive"!).
If this is the case, is there anything I can do about it? Just try re-scanning again?

Keep re-scanning, point the aerial in the righrt direction, get a digitial aerial ...

Make sure you do a re-install/ reinitialise rather than "add more channels" this should do a complete scan and not confuse any renumbering (although with channel 5 this shouldnt be a problem!)

Have always done a full scan rather than adding new channels. And they're in a block of flats, so the aerial is communal. I'll ask him to check whether there has been any work done on or near it.

If it's an analogue aerial, or it's poining at the old transmitter, it needs to be drawn to the attentin of the freeholder, I think.

Also, ensure the aerial goes into the stb first - before TiVo and and other kit.

Used to receive it fine. And nothing in his set up has changed. He used to be on the mgmt cttee, so he still has loads of contacts. I will let him sort it from here.
I had a similar problem after we updated our analogue tv to a freeview one. Also lost Radio4 from both boxes. Freeview tuners must be greedy, we used to have three analogue and one Freeview tuners off the drop but two Freeview no analogue did not work, or our signal got worse.
Biggest nuisance was daily we have “found more channels” message (of course you failed last time!) across first recording afterwards. Manual cure frequent check of “Live” tv. System workaround 5 minute repeating lowest quality Manual recording channel “A” 10 minutes after scan this got the “found more channels” message. Then a second one channel “B” which manages a channel change. All following recordings ok.
My hardware solution UKP9 amplifier splitter from Argos (2 way signal booster 534/4242) and any extra “male to male” RF leads needed (to make three, because of all female sockets) . This gave us all the channels back and a bright purple LED! And some picture improvement generaly.
N.B. Local ASDA has a Similar priced Philips, which has different sockets, but I have not tried it so do not know if it has an enthusiastic LED.
Our setup near Reading Berkshire, 6-way amplifier in loft, New top quality RF to Wall socket. New top quality RF to 2 way signal booster existing RF to tv and essential Tivo! Good luck!
