View Full Version : Important Question about tivo billing and activation?

Hi all. I bought a refurbished tivo and unfortunately it appears that the good incompetent folks over at fedex have misplaced my package. I'm wondering if tivo is charging for the monthly service as of the time I purchase it or do I need to do some type of activation before they start billing?

You have to activate the unit with TiVo before you'll begin getting billed. However, you have a limited time to activate it before a certain date (I think it's March 31?) or you'll be charged the $150 you saved (assuming you bought it from TiVo).

I believe that you need to activate the unit at tivo.com or over the phone before they start billing you. At that time you will need to decide if you want to be billed monthly at 12.95 or purchase a lifetime product subscription for $299.

Oh okay, well it'll be activated on March 1st - I think. I'll read up on the terms of the box I bought to make sure. Thanks though.

Service must be activated by March 31, 2006. An additional fee of $150 may be charged to the credit card that was used for purchase of the DVR if TiVoŽ service is not activated by March 31, 2006.
