getting my programs off tivo to dvr ?? i recently went back to dvr is there a way i can retrive my saved programs on tivo and put it on my dvr box ?? thanks all.... :)
That depends on the DVR. Some can record from an external analog source. Some can't. Check the manual.

it's a scientific explorer box 8300 dont have any manual for it ?? would you know anything about it ??
No but I can google. ;)
Here's a guide to start with (http://www.timewarnercable.com/MediaLibrary/4/68/FAQ/documents/8300HD.pdf). You can probably find more on the Scientific Atlanta website.

Use a DVD with hard drive recorder. Connect the TiVo outputs (composite or s-video) to the DVD Recorder inputs and play the show. Why take up valuable space on the DVR? Even if it is a cable DVR. :)

Are you sure the DVD HP movie writer has OUTPUTS? If it records, it should have INPUTS.
And let's not confuse terminology. DVD and DVR are two different animals.
So connect the TiVo's outputs to the DVD recorder's inputs.
You can also record shows from your cable DVR to the DVD recorder.
A DVD recorder that also has a hard drive allows some rudimentary editing.
