View Full Version : Program Call During Guided Setup

I have a Sony Tivo SVR-3000. During the Program Call (2nd phone call in the Guided Setup) when my Tivo gets to the downloading phase, the phone connection drops, and I get the error "Failed. Call interrupted."

What causes this interruption? I followed the troubleshooting ideas from the Tivo website (i.e. repowering the Tivo, minimizing voltage fluctuations, turning off call waiting and not picking up the phone line). Nothing works. The phone line is solid, since I'm using Cox Cable.

I just want to get this done so I can connect the USB port to my network and avoid this dial-up madness. Any ideas from the experts? :confused:

Why are you running a new guided setup? What TiVo software version do you last remember having? Original or upgraded hard drive? Some upgraded series 2 units are having trouble getting the new 7.21 software downloaded. Some folks have had some luck by keep forcing the Tivo to call again and again until it finally gets all the data it needs. Don't do a test call which erases everything gained in partial downloads.

Does that mean you're using VoIP? Most of those services are far from solid - especially for modems. Many VoIP providers specifically state that modems will not work at all or will be unreliable on their service.
