With the new leasing model, how much will it cost me to lease the HD-Tivo on March 1? Do leases have some kind of time commitment? I'm trying to understand if I need to purchase an HD-Tivo before March 1. I haven't seen anyone talk about that, just curious.
Thanks,
Jeff

So I called DirectTv and all I they could tell me was how much it costs today to purchase. Does anyone know the answer to this?

From all the documentation that has been put out regarding the lease program...
Same as it would cost you today to buy it.
Difference is... DirecTV ownes it after the start of the lease program
Hence all the fuss regarding the lease program.

You better keep an eye on them once D* goes to the lease model. They will most likely thing they own my 4 online and 2 offline receivers when in reality I own them all outright. Only one of them every had a signed service committment, it was for one year and expired in December 05.
Talk on one of the other forums is speculating that the "purchase price" of a leased HD-DVR may drop to around $200 with no commit on leased receivers since they are really retaining hardware ownership and getting what was a cancelation fee up front giving you the incentive to stay around. Best price on an MPEG2 D DVR is $350 right now with a 2-year commit. If it really does drop to $200 w/lease and no commit I will jump on it. The new MPEG4 and AT9 dish setup is not for me right now. Being in the NYC metro area I will stay on MPEG2 until they force me to swap or I go back to cable where more HD channels are available without paying more.

Actually didn't the dealer letter say 299 up front (techincally 100 cheaper than today's retail at 599-200 rebate)?
Are you gonna change your name on this forum too? P:)
