I have one of the first HR10-250's that I pre ordered from Value Electronics when they first where announced. Shortly after I got the HR10-250 I ordered one of the upgrades from weaknees.com so it has 70HD/470SD Hours. It's been fine up until about a month or two ago when it started rebooting a lot, I notice almost every time I use it I would have to re enter the 30 second skip code, then I could hear a hard drive clunk every so often and for the last month one of the hard drives have been going clunk clunk non stop when its recording or playing a movie and every time it clunks the video freezes for a few seconds then it continues to play. When I go into certain menus it freezes for a while and the screen goes black then makes a clunk and continues on or reboots.

Any suggestions on the easiest way to go about fixing this? I bought the weaknees kit because I can't really do the manual hd blessing thing. I'm not sure if its the second drive or original drive either. If I take the new drive out will it still work or will that mess everything up?

Thanks.

You can't just remove one drive and expect it to work. The drives are married. First download the appropriate drive test utilities from the hard manufacturers web-site and test both drives. Report back to the forum with your results. I only do manual upgrades and have no experience with kits.

I can't really do a test like that. I only have this one PC and I am not going to risk messing it up and take the hd out and put those in here. Is there any place I can get a large hd already formatted the way it needs to be cheaper than weaknees?

I see this on there site and would like to get one of these but don't have that kind of cash right now.

Replace your drive(s) with 50 HD, 340 SD Hours* - Single 400gb Drive
$349 + FREE SHIPPING

Replace your drive(s) with 65 HD, 430 SD Hours* - Single 500gb Drive
$499 + FREE SHIPPING

If anyone on here does anything like this please let me know. It would really be awesome if I could get one with the 6.2 software but I don't know if it even works with the HD TiVo or not.

Can anyone explain what to do so I can use the good drive as a one drive system again?

Thanks.

If you want to do it yourself, head over to the underground forum or google for the 'zipper'.

You can buy a 300gb Seagate drive this week at Circuit City and do it yourself.
