I had lots and lots of video pixellation on the grammys tonight. I'd guess betweeen 10-15 times I had substantial pixellation. I was watching it on 2-1 OTA Los Angeles. I didn't check the satellite HD feed, but I would bet it was the same. Anybody else experience this pixellation???

Yep, they call that macro-blocking. I'm not sure. I saw a lot of that during the strobe lights and fog. My understanding is that with the compression effected to save on bandwidth, that's what happens. I was watching through DirecTV, so I probably saw more of it. What was more bothersome was the sound and video dropping out for a few seconds every now and then. Anybody else see this? :(

I watched it OTA. I did see some distortion a couple of times when the lights were flashing. I also noticed several times that the picture seemed to drift in and out of focus. Did anyone else notice the focusing problem?

Yea, I had the pixel problem (with strobes) and focus - noticed it mainly on the Faith Hill segment. I suspect the cameraman was distracted.....

I thought it was gorgeous. There were times with the fog during the McCartney segment where I saw typical digital artifacts, but they I only noticed because there were so few.

I got the video/audio dropouts maybe 5 -6 times during the show. One time was just as the Album of the Year was announced (for U2), if I recall.

The macro blocking was to be expected with the strobes and fog - you'd think they would cut down on that knowing how digital signals love that stuff.

Glad to hear I wasn't the only one with several audio/video dropouts (and this was on a H20 HDTV receiver)....I was beginning to think I had to reaim the dish.

Yes, I was wondering if I had hdmi problem.
I think it is a tragedy that the sound has to be going thrugh the av reciever to take advantage of the dd sound though...

Did anyone else notice (using the 5.1 sound) that during the live performances, the band was louder than the vocalist? I like a very balanced sound, but this seemed tilted.

Was this specific to my setup or did anyone else notice this?
