Last week during a windstorm we lost power and cable (there was an explosion outdoors, the transformer probably) and when the power came back on there was a blue screen on the TV, which was on digital input mode, from the Tivo.
No one has been able to fix this. It's a new CRT widescreen HDTV ready JVC AV-30W585, a beautiful set. Today the cable company switched the Tivo, which is 5 weeks old, for a new one, and it behaved the same. He switched back to the original.
So there may be 3 possibilities: a. The Monster HDMI cable may have suddenly become defective. b. The TV's hardware or software for the digitial input port may have been hit by the current, but we do have a Monster $139 surge protector on the system. c. Perhaps something outdoors has been affected in the cabling.
When I go to the TV initial setup to check the digital input, that selection is not available except in very faint lettering. (And that is when a HD station is playing.)
Any ideas out there? The problem is now a week old and very frustrating. We are using the component cables but they are not as good. Nothing like DVD.
