I have a sony VHS/DVD recorder. If I purchase the tivo unit, am I able to burn DVD's from its hard drive to my existing hardware? Or must the tivo unit have its own dvd to record TV shows, etc. (like the Humax DTR-800)? Wanting to get tivo and trying to figure out which box to get, so TIA for any advice. One more thing, does this (either the "basic" 80 hr box or the humax) allow you to watch one show and tape another at the same time?

You can take the output of a TiVo into the input of a home DVD recorder unit with no problem. I have this setup in my home and it works fine. I'd suggest using a higher recording quality for both, though.
I get slightly better quality downloading the video to a PC with a DVD burner and burning the show that way, though.

Thanks--don't even have a DVD in my computer, but I'm not too concerned with producing high quality images. If I have Lost or Oprah and can share it with my friend, then I'm good to go. Thanks again for the help!
