Anyone have any type of schedule that would list when local (HD) channels will be provided by DTV? I can get the OTA ones now, but they have problems from time to time and I hate sitting down to watch a recorded show in HD only to find the audio is all messed up, or the channel didn't come in at all.

Thanks.

The Ironwood installer who came by with my R15 last Friday said it would be in March. He also said that they had put up a lot of the new AT9 dishes. I think I saw on another forum that it could be April. In any case it could be within the next few months.

From what I have read here, aren't all new locals to be added in the future going to be MPEG4 and therefore not capable of being seen on the 10-250?

The last word I heard was March 1st. However, don't look for this to eliminate the problems that we experience with the local stations, particularly KOVR and KCRA -- virtually all of their problems are happening at their studios, and so all of that will simply be passed along on the DirecTV feed.

Oh, and yes they will be re-encoded as MPEG-4, and won't be viewable on the HD TiVo.

They won't be viewable on the HD-Tivo??? What's that all about?

Will that be a temporary thing or something permanent with the HR10-250?

It is permanent. All the HD local channels that DirecTV is adding (with the possible exception of NY and LA for now) will be MPEG-4, which the HR10-250 cannot receive. To view them, you need a MPEG-4 capable receiver (which exists), and to to record them you'll need an MPEG-4 capable DVR (which doesn't exist yet ... and it when it is, it won't be powered by TiVo).

If you already get the Sac locals with an antenna, I'd advise keeping it. You can then continue to use the HR10-250 just as you are now for some time to come (several years at least, I would say).
