i have a series 1 Tivo with no hard drive.... i have an old IDE hard drive laying around, and i need to get the Tivo 1 O/S on it for it to work right? how do i do this, and is there anything else i need to know to make this puppy work?

keep in mind im a caveman, so intensely technical talk will make a giant question mark appear above my head...

You need to get an image (http://www.ptvupgrade.com/) for that particular model of TiVo, then use this guide (http://tivo.upgrade-instructions.com/) to restore the image onto your IDE drive.
