I have a couple of questions concerning my HDVR2, which I upgraded a couple years ago by adding a 120 GB drive to the existing 40 GB. Recently, it's been freezing up during certain recorded shows, causing me to have to reboot. This leads me to believe there are bad sectors on the disk, perhaps? I can go back to the same shows and it freezes in the same place every time. It's still working, but I keep waiting for it to die completely.

So, I ordered a new 250 GB drive to replace the two existing drives. However, after doing a little homework on this forum, it sounds like you can't preserve recordings, and expand AGAIN, right? If I were to use mfsbackup to copy my existing A+B drives to the new drive, I would just end up with the same recording capacity (160 GB), unless I went back to my image and started from scratch. If this is the case, I may just do that for the time being, until I reach a point where starting over is easier to do (too many shows to catch up on right now).

At that point, I would most likely go the Zipper route, so I can finally do MRV with my three DTivos.

(psss) There is tools out there, that will extact .ty files off a "hacked" Tivo to a PC and will allow, you to "serve" them back to your hacked Tivo with the new HD. (wink wink, nudge nudge)

Right, but don't I have to have it hacked (ethernet enabled) to begin with, or can you do it a different way?
