Is it easy to "move" my DirecTV service to another areas of the country for a few weeks ? If so, is there any advice on how to do this since it can't be done via the DirecTV web site.

I live in Maryland and every year I have a party during the Friday ACC Men's Basketball tournament which consists of 4 games. This year ESPN2 is broadcasting all games in HD but they are being forced to black out the games since I'm supposed to watch the SD version being broadcast on my local Baltimore WB station that can't get the HD feed from Raycom sports. I have contacted Raycom sports who were really nice and knowledgeable but said the local stations can't take the HD feed yet and they have to black out the games by contract. I contacted the ACC and ESPN both who said they can't do anything about it.

So, I would really like to "move" to my fathers house in Oklahoma for a couple of weeks. I could even do it for a month or so.

Assuming that you have a dish at your father's house (that you can mount on a pole in a bucket of cement, for example), and you do not plug in the telephone cord on the box, then "move" away. Nobody except the people in the room will be any the wiser. I know "lake people" that do this on weekends from time to time.

It couldn't be easier. Call DirecTv. Tell them you've moved your equipment to a new address, but would like to keep the billing at your old address.

You will need to reprogram all your season passes during the time you are moved. And then reprogam then again when you move back.

What about locals, all of which I think are spot beamed? Will D* want to change them?

The point of "moving" is to get different locals.

Yes, I understand that for the Distant Locals (ABC, CBS, NBC FOX) like NYC and LA. These are not spot beamed but available CONUS.

I was referring to the SD locals which are all spot beamed. Consequently, I, living on the west coast, could not get the NYC SD locals even if I "moved" there because it's a physical impossibility. So the original poster might have a problem "moving" from Maryland to Oklahoma if he subs to Maryland locals.
