Hey guys (and gals) - here is my deal...

Set up my Series 2 Tivo up in the following way...

Wall to Directv sat.
Sat to Tivo
Tivo to DVD recorder via component cables and Tivo to TV via S Video
DVD recorder to TV

My TV is a 51 inch sony rear projection - with optional HDTV readiness.

I didn't want to buy the directivo because I figured the tivo will port with me wherever I move to.

my resolulution looks grainy and blocky through my set - with or without the dvd recorder being used as a pass through. If I took tivo out the equation, the resolution is a lot sharper.

Currently its tolerable but not ideal. Why doesn't Tivo allow me to view the picture as clearly. Is there any suggestions you might have?

Again, things that need to be hooked up (in one way or another) are:
Tivo, Directv, DVD recorder, Amplifier, TV

Please help!

Ideas:

Calibrate the screen. (Will help over all but MPEG more than other stuff benefits.)
Get a DirecTiVo (I know but it will give you the original DirecTV picture.)
Possibly sit further back. NTSC was designed to be viewed at 7-10 times the screen height. (HD can be viewed at only 3 times the screen height.)
