In want to add a 2nd drive to my 10-250. Is it possible to utilize the USB port and a hard drive enclosure to modify the additional drive rather than opening the pc and connecting the drive to the pc's IDE port as detailed in the Weakness Interactive TiVo Upgrade Instructions? I haven't been able to find any specific mention of the use of USB drive enclosure fo use in this procedure.
Thanks,
Herb

You'll need Linux drivers for the enclosure, and I suspect that most of the TiVo tools have code in them that would treat any device name higher than hdd as an error.

It cracking open the pc the only way to upgrade the drive?

Other than buying a pre-upgraded drive from somebody like Weaknees or PTVUpgrade, yes.
