Sorry if it created any enthusiasm about a possible update, that wasn't my purpose.

I'm having a problem making the daily call. I connect the phone line about once a month since the jack is on the other side of the room. Today I've run into the same problem I had a month ago, when trying to force the daily call I get a message stating that 'the unit cannot call since an update is in progress'.

I know there is no 'update' going on, that would have been reported here at a second's notice. I'm just wondering what the hell is going on.......

it's lame but did you try a reboot?

if so, how long do you leave the line in? I do it about 1x a month overnight so the tivo AND the PPV call goes out. It's stupid that you can't force PPV but nothing we can do.

If none of this helps, I'll defer to someone else....

I also do it about once a month but don't leave the line in overnight. I just plug and call.

It eventually called out but I'm wondering about the 'update' it's supposed to be processing....especially if this causes the processor to slow or any other effects.

I did several 'hard resets' and nothing has changed.

well it shouldn't be doing the updating continuously, that's for sure...but i dont know what else to do/say as you've tried everything I can think of. Hopefully someone else jumps in. I doubt it would matter but maybe sometime just leave the line in overnight.

so i assume you never order PPV on the remote :) I rarely do but found out the hard way if you let it go a few months, even with just one movie, it wont let you order with remote anymore
