so I have an older TIVO and now have an HD TV (receiver built in). So I want to get an HD TIVO, but we do not want to sign up for DirecTV , DISH, Comcast or any service. There's plenty of HD shows from normal over-the-air antenna for us to record. But I can't seem to find a TIVO that reflects HD , without being linked to a service, like DirecTV. Can I get say an HR10-250 and get the over-the-air HD broadcasts?

Then can I sign up for the TIVO programming option?

How can I get an HD DVR WITHOUT having to subscribe to a cable/satellite network?

Many thanks in advance.

Shel:

The forthcoming TiVo Series 3 is expected to have platform-agnostic HD support. It was demoed at CES and should be out in the second half of this year. As of right now, that seems to be the best option for HD TiVo if you don't want to wed yourself to any cable/satellite provider.

Consider the LG 3410A or the Sony DGG-HDD250/500 models, or a Windows MCE 2005 computer with HD tuner(s).
