Yesterday Upgraded series Two 240040 unit to 160 HD. Worked great all last evening and super bowl today. Pushed button on tivo remote to >> fast forward, and it gave me about forty beeps. in "Full auto" b.b.b.b.b.b.b.b.b.b.b.
Push "TIVO" to pick another show and one down arrow sent the cursor to bottom of list. Yellow remote light stays lit on Base unit a long time. Batteries are AOK in remote. powered down Tivo Powered up again, and same problem.
Did I goof up something? on upgrade? (no i checked the white cable and it stayed seated while i upraded.)
????? why 24 hrs after upgrade?

Do you have more than one remote control that will work with the Tivo? There have been several reports on the forum of a second remote accidently getting stuck behind a pillow or cushion which was applying pressure on some of the keys and screwing up everything.
If this is not the case, you could tell us how you hooked up drives to computer and the steps you went through just so somebody can make sure that is not the problem.

Approx. 2 weeks ago I experienced the same problem with my remote. I was using the same remote with my Series 1 and Series 2 units. My series 1 worked just fine but each time I tried to access the series2 the remote went crazy just as yours did.
I never did find out what the problem was. I checked for a stuck key, checked the other remote and even rebooted both units and changed the batteries in the remote. Nothing worked. Was ready to start looking at sending in the unit for repair but the next day everything was back to normal.
If you find the reason please post it so I will know what is going if it happens again.

drove me crazy... the second remote was under a hat... and the edge depressed a key made the tivo remote go nuts...
