TiVo'ed Super Bowl 7 Segments...so far

Set my HD DirecTiVo to record the Super Bowl since I had to be out this evening, and when I returned, I have SEVEN different segments of the game recorded due to reboots. MAN am I tired of this!!! Also, the 30 second commercial advance hack no longer seems to work. What's up with this? - OK, I fixed the commercial skip hack, but the reboot thing still sucks.

I only had one reboot during the game, but two last night.

On the commercial skip, suddenly I can't reprogram it while playing back an HD program, only if I'm playing an SD, and even then, it seems to sometimes take two tries. When I do it during an HD program, I don't get any audio feedback of the button presses, but during both failed and successful SD attempts I get the usual progression, including the three bells at the end. Strange...

Were you using OTA to record the HD signal?? The only time I seem to have re-boots is when I am recording OTA HD. It seems that the OTA signal somtimes confuses the HDTivo and BAM a re-boot.

Lucky for me, it did not happen during the super bowl yesterday, but I do feel your pain.

Well, yes I was using OTA. Odd, I'll have to pay attention next time to whether we're using OTA when a reboot happens. While watching the recording I got two more reboots.

Your hard drive is shot. There are several threads about late starts, partials and frequent reboots. This one is representative.

My restart problems only happen when the disk is very full...and while trying to record long programs. but I'm heading next to the thread on failing hard drives. maybe that's my underlying problem

How was your AC power during the recordings? Is it possible you took some power hits?

I used to get occasional, "unexplained" reboots (when not at home) and they all stopped after I connected the power through a UPS unit.

I had one reboot from the game, about :30 minutes from the end. OTA recording, reboot, hadn't really ever SEEN that live, I have had some double recordings in the past few months, but thought it was just since multiple things were being recorded.?

Weird. My HD Tivo, which has a BRAND NEW DRIVE per warranty fix, crashed during the end of the Super Bowl. Very odd coincidence.
