I want to upgrade my TiVo's hard drive and I have prety much gotten the odea of what I am supposed to do, but i was wondering about what state the new hard drive should be in before i do the "mfsrestore" command to it?

I mean, should it already have partitions on it? or should it be completely blank with all partitions deleted?

The drive in question was previously used to duall boot linux and windows and i was wondering if I should clear it before TiVo'ing it or if the command would just redo the partition table on its own. (and yes I checked multiple ways, the drive is good, and its less than a year old)

You don't need to prepare the drive. I have set up tivos with drives that were previously in Windows, Linux, and Mac computers. I have also used fresh drives out of the wrapper.

As previous poster indicated, mfsrestore wipes drive clean and reformats on the fly so no need to do anything to it.
