Eh, it was ok. I was hoping for more of a Wonder Woman type of character. The episode wasn't too interesting. Lex once again blackmailing his father, gaining the upper hand, blah blah...

Did I not totally call it last week -- that Martha would be offered Jonathan's Senate seat and that Lionel would use it to make a play for her. Huh? Huh? Am I good or what?
I saw that John Schneider was still in the opening credits. Was that because he appeared on the home video?

I thought it was a decent episode, but was struck more by the comment made by one of the posters on last week's epi thread.
Since they've claimed 'no flights, no tights' - i.e. he'll never be superman, we're just stuck spinning our wheels until the series is over. No character development, no hero type things that we expect from Superman....heck we don't even have Clark showing the least bit of interest in reporting. I'm tired of lex only being semi-evil and getting his butt kicked continally.

I'm not sure what to make of lionel calling clark "son" at the end there.
Not to mention the fact that Clark saved him by moving at super-speed. And heard that not-so-cryptic conversation between Clark and Andrea. But is he going to keep quiet so he can pursue Martha? I can't believe Lex was able to blackmail him by threatening to tell her that Lionel had met with Jonathan just before Jonathan died.
Wow...Lionel must really loved Martha. He's willing to give up control of his company to keep her companionship.
But then again, maybe he's staying close to her because she will be the Senator.

I don't think Lionel is afraid of a criminal investigation. I'm sure it's because he doesn't want to lose Martha's friendship. We know he's always had a thing for her and now that Jonathan is gone, he's got to feel that the door is open. If she finds out he had something to do with Jonathan's death, that door will be closed forever.

The "son" part was definitely laden with something. They didn't jut write that line for nothing.
And by the way, so far no one has mentioned the background score when we first meet Andrea. Go back and listen to it a few times and tell me what you think it sounds like? I was expecting some other kinda crazy cross-over with another big DC city. Let's see who else can place the music.

Sounded like Batman to me. I was wondering if she was going to turn out to be Huntress. It wouldn't make sense time-wise, though.

I quit watching Smallville just before the "Smallville Girls go Charmed" episode. Just couldn't take it anymore (though I still loved Lex).
Last night I was about to turn the TV off and saw that Smallville was on. Tuned in and watched the last ten minutes. Acting looks like it has only gotten worse!!! :D
Apparently Pa Kent just died. What specifically happened? I read the other thread but they just kept talking about him dying, but not saying how. Did he just drop over because someone had to die or did he die in some specific manner (accident, murder, etc?) because someone had to die?

Ok, I am sooo behind on Smallville. I have 1-3 sets on DVD. And the show itself ALWAYS conflicts with stuff so it ends up getting lost in the shuffle. I have appearantly missed a TON over the last 2 seasons.
My tivo actually recorded this one so I watched some of it and couldnt help but think of all the superman comparisons they had with the girl superhero.
Seems to me by the time he becomes Supes, he will have 29302389 times more experience than any superman did in the comics or movies as far as badguys etc.
I guess I need to wait for S4 on DVD and then S5 because im lost.
I can say this, Chloe said something about Jonathan, and since I didnt know I was taken aback. I dont know details but it was a rude awakening on top of missing 2 seasons of a show I used to obsess over.

I laughed when I saw that box of "Acuvue Advance" contacts. They're the same ones I wear. Best lenses I've used FYI :). Expensive though :(.
This episode was pretty bad. Who in their right minds drops clothes off at a homeless shelter at night by themself in a part of town called "Suicide slums"?! I did like the ending though with Jonathon on the home video.
I thought her acting was pretty poor as well.
Also, when she first save Mrs Kent from the bad guy, why didn't she realize then that he killed her mom.
Seems like they decided that plot point after the fact.

When she saved Martha, she grabbed the guy and said something like "I've been looking for you for a long time", or something like that.

your right, right when she first appears (batman theme plays) she pushes him against the pick up and says "ive been looking for you"...
started off like it was gonna be a much better ep then it was...
i agree they threw alot at us, was the "blind as a bat" a reference or part of the commercial for acuuvue? i cant tell
i can see pa kent coming back in flashbacks, dreams, w/ jorel
edit: how often is "superman" gonna get knocked on his ass? is it really because he didnt expect to get hit? didnt think she had the power? wasnt ready?
edit2: whats wrong with "superman", how many more people/potential (powerful) enemies is he going to let in on his weakness??? "im kind of allergic" or is she the first one and im just thinking he gives it up easily

I think the Smallville writers are in trouble. They promised from the beginning that he would never wear the outfit and become Superman. So, where on earth do you end it? I personally would like an ending where he tries on the outfit for the first time, he flies off, his cape fluttering in front of the camera, some dramatic music, and then end it. I think this should be the last season. I can't see how they could possibly keep up the momentum of the show for another season.

I watched the episode last night, and sobbed during the last scene with the home video.
With my son asleep in his room, my wife putting the little girl down for the night in her room, and my dad going in for surgery on Monday, it hit a little close to home.

That's the problem. It's almost like I wish the show was ending, so we'd get 4-6 really good episodes.
I think the last few episodes of the series will be good. They've done well with most season ending shows, and most of the big mythology episodes.
I think Smallville is doing well in the ratings, and I think they're going to want to keep it around next year for the CW.

Clark is missing one ability that we've not seen in Smallville yet.. He's missing the wintery ice breath!
The writers can take the next season for Clark to learn it. Plus he can use the Fortress of Solitude to hone his skills and shoot the breeze with Jor-el. We'll probably see Clark involved in alot of covert crime fighting in Metropolis.

woof! I finally got my hands on this episode. Now I know that I shouldn't have even bothered. Too bad too considering the past few have been pretty good. This had to be one of the worst episodes of Smallville ever. Good golly it was bad! Could someone please tell me where Lionel has gotten all of his money from? I thought he was ruined after the whole prison thing, yet now he is ready to take Luthorcorp back? How does a campaign for state senate in Kansas exhaust the funds of a billionaire? Why can't Lana just be dead?

Although indeed, Vengence's acting ability is poor, I do have to say that she is HOT. That slight speech impediment of hers made her even more cute too.

Anyone notice the title in the TiVo was Vengenance?
Also, Vengence seems to have several things in common with batman. Petty criminal offs her parent(s) and as a result she decides to fight crime as a vigilante.
I think the real reason for this is to show that Clark is not like Batman or those of that nature. He's not going to lower himself to that level. This episode tells why.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but we've seen:
Super Strength
Super Density
Super Speed
Super Hearing
Super Jumping
One Episode of Flying
One Episode of Hovering (over his bed I think - unless that was from L&C ;))
Heat Vision
XRay Vision
We have not seen:
Super Breath
Telescopic Vision
I don't believe there are any other forgotten abilities unless you include stuff such as that he can fly in space without apparently breathing, etc.
