Just wanted to alert everyone since there are a lot of Chappelle fans on here. Not that Oprah is a tough interviewer but it could be interesting.

I thought he reclused to Africa.
But I also thought he had some sort of a catastrophic mental breakdown, too. I guess that's not the case if he's going on Oprah.
He probably just needed a break from the celebrity life.

He's been back for a while now, and touring and performing pretty regularly. We saw him a couple months back here in Pittsburgh. He made a LOT of jokes about his supposed mental breakdown, but he seemed okay to us...

Did anybody watch it today?
I did.
What did you think?

It was a bizarre interview. It was obviously scripted to last the entire hour, seeing as he kept delaying in answering basic questions. The "deal" given to Comedy Central was bizarre as well. I'm glad Oprah kept him in perspective telling him to be careful of what he says on national tv; it could come back to haunt him. There's no way Comedy Central is giving up 50% of the DVD proceeds to charity. No corporation would do that. 10% perhaps, and only if they could write it off.
I personally don't think he's the funniest comedian currently, but that's my opinion.

He was proposing that he give his 50% to charity. He has a huge backend on those DVDs which is why he'll see money even if he never makes another frame of that show. To say he walked from all 50 million is an overstatement. His proposal to CC was really more that they let him do the show and step off.

I hope he's okay. He seemed pretty sketchy in the interview, seldom making eye contact while repeatedly doing a nervous habit thing with his lips and teeth. His answers were also really strange. A lot of times he went off on tangents and then just all of a sudden stopped talking at an odd moment.
Obviously religion talk was prohibited, which made this interview kind of light weight. I guess we'll have to wait for Howard Stern later this month for someone to grill him a little harder.
His block party movie looks cool.
