I have Samsung DLP TV and Samsung Tivo/DirectTV receiver (sorry, don't know models). Several weeks ago the TV wouldn't power up. Even going to TV and pressing the power button didn't do it (though standby lamp was on so know it was getting power). Had to unplug surge suppressor and plug back in before TV would come on and then the DTV receiver went through the initial 3-4 minute restart process. Same thing happened next day. Fine until last night and happened again. -- Any ideas what's going on? Thanks for any input.

Not sure about the TV issue, but your D*Tivo is randomly rebooting. Do a search of this forum for "reboot" and you'll find several threads. Various explanations abound, with various solutions. A common diagnosis is you have a bad HDD. Maybe, maybe not. All I can tell you is what my situation is/was.
My Philips DSR708 was rebooting randomly for months. I cleared my thumbs to no avail (I did not do a clear and delete everything b/c I didn't want to lose what was recorded). Finally, I saw a post about IR blasters, and I was on the road to recovery. If you're using a remote control accessory -- IR blaster, RF transmitter, etc. -- try moving its base as far away from your box as possible. Mine used to be next to each other, now they're a few feet apart. Since I moved it a few weeks ago, not a single reboot -- and I was averaging 1-2 a day.
Good luck!

Cronimi - Thanks for the info about IR blasters. In fact, I do have one. It's about 20 feet from tv and can't be moved further but that is interesting speculation. I'll also search "reboot" as you suggest for additional info.
The inability to power up the TV really throws me. I have to think one problem is tied to the other but...not sure how. Weird stuff.

Yeah, I have no clue about the TV part. Definitely read the thread entitled "6.2 Causing Random Reboots?". There are a lot of ideas in there. In your case, you might try unplugging your IR blaster and see if the rebooting stops. If so, that may be your problem -- with the TiVo at least. The TV? That's another story entirely.... Good luck, Barkster.
