I have a Series 1 TiVo that I upgraded with 2x160 GB drives a few years back. I recently upgraded to a brand new Series 2 80 hour Humax. I now want to take the drives out of the old TiVo and put them in the new one.

My question is....because they were originally limited to 137GB on my old system do I need to do anything special to make them use the full capacity of each on the new system?

Also about how long does it take to copy an 80 hour system(keeping all recordings etc...)? Before when I upgraded my old system with the 2x160GB drives it had been upgraded with an 80GB drive and I seem to remember that the copy process took a long time...something like 6-10 hours....but I might be remembering wrong.

Nope. Just treat the drives as if they are new, and use the LBA48 boot CD. There is nothing on them useable by the new TiVo. I think it should copy in two or three hours, faster if you use a DMA kernel.

I hadn't bother to use it in the last 6 months so have no idea when that happened. So I pull the drives and stick them on my PC and the A drive was DEAD aka No Power. What stinks is I bought it 16 months ago and it croaked after 6 months and I had to send it in to be replaced and then less then a year later it dies again. Good old Western Digital...I've never had great luck with them.
So I checked the sale ads and CompUSA has a Maxtor 200GB for $50 AR and Fry's had the same Maxtor 200GB for only $70 (no rebate). They were one per customer so I grabbed one from each store. I'm not even going to put the surviving WD drive back into my new TiVo after this strike of luck.

I downloaded the ISO from WeaKnees titled weaknees_lba_boot_cd.iso would that be the LBA48 or would I need to get that from somewhere else?
