Every Wednesday morning, The Shield is yellow and about to roll off. And every time, I confirm that my season pass is set to KUID.

I have plenty of space. We only have about 12 hours of green on our 80-hour unit.

What gives?

There shouldn't be any way for a Season Pass set to KUID to record an episode that ends up Keep Until Space Needed...

That said, just because a show is marked with a yellow ball doesn't mean that it is about to be deleted. Every KUSN show changes to yellow ball 24 hours after being recorded and to expired 48 hours after being recorded. (Unless of course you adjust the keep until date).
But expired doesn't mean it is about to be deleted; it just means that you won't be specifically warned if the TiVo needs to delete it.

I've had programs that sat expired for over a year without ever being deleted, because my TiVo never ran out of space, and therefore never needed to delete any expired programs.

It happens if you're close to full and the DTiVo underestimates the space needed to make the recording. It used to happen to me occasionally with "Veronica Mars" and "Star Trek: Enterprise" airing on my noisy local UPN affiliate.

I guess I need a good old sinus infection if I want to clear things off. :-)

Yeah, I secretly wish I would get sick so I could stay home and watch all my backed up programs.
