R-10 or Hughes?

I want to upgrade my old SAT-T60 to a faster TIVO.

Since I have heard such terrible things about the R15, I am thinking the R10 or the Hughes models would be a better bet.

Question: what is the difference between the R10 and the Hughes model DVRs?

I have been looking at Value Electronics and they do have the older models available.

Also - anyway to electronically transfer Season Passes, or do you have to manually create them with each new DVR you buy?

Other then the Hughes is easier to hack...

Nothing.

There are "methods" to transfer the season passes... but I am not aware of one to go from a S1 to a S2 based unit.

It would be just easier for you to recreate them.

To get an older model, you probable need to call them.
