If you want to make a backup on your PC harddrive, you need a FAT32 partition.

I dont see the area where it directs you on how to make a backup of your current drive.

The command is mfsbackup. there are many options. the end file is a big file (one BIG file). You need a FAT32 because it needs to be mounted and the Linux CD can not mount an NTFS partition.

Not quite. Most Linux distros can mount NTFS fine, but as Read Only.
FAT32 is recommended as both Linux and Windows can read/write that filesystem.

When going through the interactive guide, one of the checkboxes says "do you want to amake a backup?". If you check this, it will give you the proper commands to do this.
