Have not found this exact question answered on this forum so here goes. I have an SD Tivo and an HD Tivo in my west coast house. I get east and west coast DNS channels (because I was in a "white spot" when I got D* service), plus locals (non-HD) plus HD locals from LA.

I want to put my HD Tivo in my vacation house back east and get HD locals there along with DNS channels from both coasts. I've been told I'm grandfathered, and would get the DNS channels with no problem, but I also need the local channels. Can I do this and still have my current setup on the west coast.

Thanks in advance for any info.

You are grandfathered in respect to your current location. What you are planning to do is against the rules. You could try it in your vacation house, but you won't get any west coast locals other than the networks. Your HD nets will be the west coast.

I guess my only choice is to keep the current system as is and get HD locals at the vacation house OTA. Does this make sense? :)
