Can't watch live tv

This has probably been brought up before but I can't find it. I have a Tivo series 2 and a couple of weeks ago I had all the front lights on and no picture. Searching the web I found that it was probably the power supply. I bought a new one and installed itand that seemed to fix things. Now I have a new problem. While I can watch anything that was previously recorded I can not watch live tv. The only thing that seems obvious is that the tuner has gone bad but that seems odd. I also have a cable box and I tried to go through it first (thereby taking the tuner out of the equation) but I still don't get live tv. The tivo still tries to record stuff, so I think it thinks it's getting something, but I get no picture. Anything it records now is just a black screen. Does ANYONE have ANY ideas? Thanks.

When you put the cable box in, did you set the TiVo for composite or s-video and connect it that way? If you set the TiVo for channel 3 or 4, it would still be using the TiVo tuner.

Even after telling it about the cable box I get no picture. I know that it's hooked up right.

When you select the input, what does it say about the signal?

Okay, I was wrong. I didn't have it hooked up right. I do now and I get a picture through my cable box. That verifies, for me anyway, that the tuner must be shot. If I'm wrong and someone can think of something I haven't tried, please let me know. Thanks.

Well one thing that springs to mind is that if it was wrong just now, it might have been wrong before. It might be worth rechecking the old way.

I've disconnected the Tivo from the cable box again. Right now I have it hooked up like this. The cable comes out of the wall to a splitter. From the splitter, cables go to my Tivo, my cable box and my tv. From the back of the cable box and the Tivo I have RCA plugs going to an ABC switch. Then RCA jacks from the switch into the video input on my tv. If I go to the Tivo switch I can watch things that have already been recorded but not live tv. If I go to the cable box switch I'm good to go. And if I change channels on my tv I get everything. Any ideas other that my original guess that the tuner has crapped out? Thanks in advance.

Why isn't your cable box connected to your Tivo?

The way I have it set up is so I can watch tv without the tivo or the cable box (which I only have because I wanted HBO) or I can watch the tivo or I can watch HBO. The Tivo, my cable box and my dvd player are connected to an ABC switch so I can go to which ever one I want to watch. My cable box also has a DVR so I don't need Tivo hooked up to it. I had the Tivo first btw.

Do you have it set up as having cable with no box? That would be the right way to do it in your situation.
