Use Tivo box for transfer/viewing only?

I currently have 2 tivo series 2 boxes, I plan on replacing my tivo 40 hour box with the new series 3 box when it comes out. Is it possible to keep the 40 hour box and hook it up to my tv to just transfer and view shows and not record any shows and not pay the monthly fee for that box?

No......You need a subscription to use the transfer feature

No. You will be able to pause live TV and watch what is in your Now Playing List -- Nothing else.
