Service Update?

I've left the TiVo universe for awhile, but I've returned with the purchase of the Humax 40 hour unit.

Upon my 1st daily call, I received a service update that needs an hour to implement.

Any idea what this change is, and what it does for me?

Most likely bring you updated software for additional wired/wireless adapters... do you know what version its going too.

No, it's not done loading yet.

On an unrelated note, I thought I had heard that series 2 units used a tv guide grid style method of programming recordings. Was that incorrect?

My showcases and tv guide section only has 1 showcase and tivolution magazine.

Probably downloading the upgrade from 5.3 to 7.2

The program guide can be Tivo format or Grid format. Press enter while viewing the guide to change display options.

Can you be more specific when you say "the guide?"

BTW, I just went to "record by time or channel" and it won't let me select "by time" or "by channel," only manual record. Nothing happens.

Your Tivo could still be indexing the guide data, until it is done you won't be able to schedule recordings.

While watching Live Tv, press the Live TV button again to display the TV Guide. Select a show and press the the record button. Or go to Pick programs to record and do a search by title, once the guide data has been indexed.
