Stupid question

Does my computer need to be turned on for Tivo to send a signal to Tivo unit for updates? I would hate to have to leave my computer on 24/7 for updates otherwise I would rather have it done through the phone connection.

It depends on how you have eveything connected. If the TiVo is connected to the internet through your computer, then the answer is yes. If it is through a router, then no.
