Since no one has mentioned this show, I will. It's called Hustle and it is on AMC. It's about a group of con artists performing a con each episode. I watched the first episode last night and I recommend it highly. See http://hustle.amctv.com/ for details on the show.

I recorded it, but haven't watched it yet. I wanted to mention, however, that TWO episodes aired last night according to the AMC website. They will be re-aired Friday, so if you only got one episode, pay attention for that second one then.

I didn't record the second episode, but it looks like there's no plans to replay it:

I watched the first episode and enjoyed it, but it is clear that AMC doesn't want me to watch it since they don't provide proper guide data. So, they will get their wish.

I had the Tivo set to record a bunch of them, and I watched a few yesterday. It's a good show. Well written, twisty plots. It's like watching a crime drama, but from the view of the criminals, not the cops. I like it!

I too am annoyed at the lack of proper guide data.

Is AMC playing new 3rd season shows or are they passing off season 1 and 2 as though they were new?

I've watched season 1 and 2 by BitTorrent'ing them. AWESOME show. It's a very smart and funny show.

The first episode the other night was definitely the first of the series as some time was spent introducing each of the characters and bringing them together to do their con.

I saw a promo for this on IMDB and since I was in front of my TV with my laptop I decided to check it out. But it was already into the second episode and AMC didn't have any show information distingushing episodes from each other.

Recorded one (taking down the casino owner with a fake movie) and it was pretty good but it was pretty much like a British version of the Sting. would like to see the other episodes though.

I got this email from AMC:

We are happy to inform you that AMC is planning to broadcast a marathon of the first six episodes of our original show, Hustle, on Feb. 18, beginning at 4 pm EST (schedule may be subject to change). Additionally, we welcome you to visit www.hustle.amctv.com to learn more about our series.

I watched the first episode and liked it. Good writing, good acting, & stylishly put together.

Wonder why there's not more discussion of this program. Top drawer, IMO. ;)

I'm a really big fan. I've always liked "long con" movies, and now I get them every week!

I also like the dynamic between the characters, though I wish Stacie got more screen time---I mean, yes Mickey is the main character and the education of Danny is an ongoing theme, but it seems like we've spent time with Albert and even Ash, but we hardly get to see Stacie or learn more about her (except that Danny wants to sleep with her).

I'll setup a SP tonight.

No "new" episodes until Saturday, March 11 at 10PM (Encore Friday, March 17 at 7PM). This will be BBC S02EP03 but AMC is combining Season 1 & 2 and calling this Episode 09.

They just went through a marathon last weekend, so not too many repeats to catch up on.

I like this show a lot. Adrian Lester is one super-cool guy. If they ever do a black James Bond, he's the man.

If they ever do a black James Bond, he's the man.The interesting thing is that I don't think they've ever even brought up his race, have they?

I currently watch three British shows (Night Detective, Hustle and Conviction) and the first two both star black males. In Night Detective, his race is very much part of the story (particularly in the first season). In Hustle it's not a factor (well, I guess he couldn't have played the long-lost son in this episode, but you know what I mean)...

This hit me right away also (and I like it!). The ep where the mark was the rich ex-wife of the spa owner had her in bed with Mickey by the middle of the show with not even a hint of race issues. And Stacie still sorting out old feelings for Mickey makes me think that Black.White isn't that big of a deal over there. Is the UK that more accepting than the US?

Perhaps if Mickey was a Pakastani, there'd be more controversy.

Hustle is well written and very well acted. I'm a little behind. Watched one episode last night. I think I still have two others on TiVo. Is Hustle one of those 6 episode series shows Britain does?

I also watch Night Detective. Nicky being black only mattered in the pilot and was kind of "sore thumbish" there. British tv seems more colorblind than ours.

The whole "dealing with the stray kid" storyline is also touched by race (the "he should be with his own kind" discussion)...

I've been getting the show and enjoying it. I do have one question. I've been making it a point to pick out (manually, from the upcoming episodes) the 1 hour, 15 minute letterbox versions. Does anyone know how they cut the episodes down for the 1 hour non-letterbox versions? Without commercials, the letterbox versions come in a few seconds short of a full hour. Are the other ones shown with no commercials, or are they cutting out content?

Not that it matters either way, since the letterbox ones so far haven't caused any conflicts, but it would sure be nice to know if it ever comes up. They only seem to show them that way once, then repeat the shorter ones several times in a week.

The guide data seems to be a bit better -- they are at least carrying a synopsis now, though the titles don't always seem to match what I see in other online sources.

I haven't seen this at all -- every episode my SP catches is a 1hr, 15 minute ep. There are shortened ones?? No no no! I want all of this show, it's great.

I too am waiting on a Stacy-focused episode. She's a dish.

The actual R/T is 52 minutes per episode without commercials (BBC doesn't have any!) and, as they are made by the BBC, widescreen is the norm. This means that any 4:3 content is pan and scan or stretched. I haven't seen the AMC versions - I refuse to watch a movie channel that adds commercial breaks to movies!

I'm watching the first episode as we speak - and so far I'm impressed. Then again, I would be - I'm a Brit! :)

Edit: I just finished watching the first episode. It's a bit "Sting", but good, nonetheless. Enough to make me want to watch more anyway!

Just a friendly bump. If anyone hasnt seen this show, at least try one if you are at all interested in con men. Very creative and what's more, all believable!!! no "24" or otherwise suspension of disbelief required

Is the UK that more accepting than the US?Yeah don't think there is as big of a culture gap over there that we have here. John Lydon of the Sex Pistols was on Jimmy Kimmel the other night explaining why he and the band have a problem with the Rock and Roll hall of Fame. While he was talking Orlando Jones tried to make a joke saying "You sound like a black man" and Lydon took offense to the comment saying that he's from the UK and they don't have that "black white culture" thing like we have here.

The interview can be seen here for anyone interested...

BTW...this is a great show. Anyone that like movies involving "con games" etc... should be watching this.

Also if you haven't noticed on Saturday night the show is 1:15 while the repeats during the week are only 1:00. I think this is because the original length of the show is 1:00 and with commercials it's 1:15...so if your watching the repeats I think they are trimming 15 minutes to make it fit in the hour with commercials.

Also...has anyone noticed this new show coming on NBC called Heist? Is it supposed to be an American version of Hustle or are they just ripping it off?

Is it supposed to be an American version of Hustle or are they just ripping it off?Neither.

My impression from the commecials is that it owes more to Ocean's Eleven than it does to Hustle.

Heist is about theives, while Hustle is about con-men.
Heist is apparently a season-long story, while Hustle is episodic.
Heist apparently is a drama, while Hustle has comedic elements (not to mention the whole interacting with the camera thing).
Heist apparently also tells a lot of the story from the cop point of view while Hustle is almost exclusively focused on the crew.
