So with Knight Rider showing up on UniversalHD (and SciFi) and Dukes of Hazzard having been on CMT for a while now, it dawns on me that there haven't been any primetime shows that featured a sweet ride lately. In 1984, we had KR, DoH, and A-Team to choose from.

I seem to remember a show that tried to recreate Knight Rider. I think it was syndicated and had a team of 5 or 6 drivers. If memory serves, it was called Team Knight Rider.
Show sucked, though...

A-Team is a bit of a stretch. Yeah, they had that van, and Face had the 'Vette for a while, I believe, but neither were a big part of the show.
Anyway, most recent auto-centric show that I can think of was "Viper," a syndicated show that aired in '94, cancelled, then was brought back in a modified form in '96 and aired until '99.

We need more shows with truckers, chimps, and hot women...like BJ & the Bear.

Part of the storyline in "My Name Is Earl" is that Earl keeps his lottery winnings in his sweet ride...

I think he moved it to the safe deposit box. Why he keeps the cash in the box and not in an account earning interest, I dunno.

When Trio was around they would show reruns of “My Mother the Car”. Maybe that’s why they are gone?

No more car shows because the demographic has shifted.
I'm expecting to see "Mi Tio El TiVo" any day now. ;)

A lot of the Private Eye shows had distinctive cars.
That one in Vegas with the T-bird, Magnum PI with his Ferrari, and whatever that Don Johnson one was with Cheech Marin and the Dodge Challenger convertible.
I never watched them, but I noticed the cars.

Knight Rider was one show that I really wish they had remade, with todays graphics and such it really could have been a great show. Then Team Knight Rider came out and I was so very dissapointed. Maybe someday they will get around to doing it right.

There was a TV movie that was, I believe, intended as a pilot for a new Knight Rider series back in the early 90s, called "Knight Rider 2000" (wow, isn't that name quaint now).
They made a few changes in that one - KITT was dropped into a Pontiac Banshee (a show car from that era); they killed off Edward Mulhare's character, Devin; they replaced Michael Knight with a female character; and they added a bunch of whizbang CGI graphics.
Still, I thought it had significant promise for a series, but apparently the network disagreed.

Remembered seeing previews and such for that but never got a chance to see it. Will have to see if I can find it. Wasn't it one of those "Action Pack" movies that saw a lot of them turned into series? There was the new "Bandit" in a Dodge Stealth, then the Martial Arts brother, and at least a couple others.

There was another one from those Action Pack movies called Knight Rider 2010. It was made by Glen Larson. But the thing is it didn't have anything todo with Knight Rider we all know and love. It was like Knight Rider but in a Road Warrior type setting.
