SD suddenly stretched?

I purchased a Sony 60" HDTV and HR10-250 one year ago.

It used to be, that all SD shows had the verticle bars, and HD filled the whole screen. That is how I prefer SD: unstretched.

Lately, more and more SD shows are stretched to fill the whole screen. I haven't changed any settings on the TV or on the HR10-250. Not all SD shows are stretched, just some.

Why is this happening. Stretching SD makes everyone look fat!

Any ideas?

Not knowing the specifics of your TV, I dont know the default settings.
But I do know that both the HD10 & your TV will have the "zoom" or "stretch" feature. Go through both settings & ensure you are maintaining broadcast aspect ratios (normally denoted as "Normal").

If you havent changed the HD10 & the TV is new, my guess would be its a TV Setting.

Is it your local OTA stations that are stretched?

If could be that the station is stretching the content before broadcasting. The FOX station in Atlanta used to stretch everything.
