Hi,

I've downloaded a bunch of shows to my PC via the Tivo desktop. Easy. They come over as a ".tivo" format (which is just MPG2 compressed I found out from Tivo). I want to edit these files with Adobe Premiere (or any other video editing software). Premiere can't read a .tivo file. So I changed the file to a .mpg extension (experimenting, of course). That doesn't work and causes funny behavior with the file manager window. BTW, I'm using XP and a fairly new Dell.

So the question is: how do I edit the video once I download it to my PC, with the ultimate goal of burning it on to a CD.

Thanks,

Greg

In addition to VideoReDo that's mentioned in the thread tomm1079 posted check out Dave Zatz's website http://www.zatznotfunny.com/ttg.htm

There's also the Tivo endorsed solution of Sonic MyDVD and forum members ahve reported that Nero can also be made to work. I tried using Adobe once on a MPG I created from a .tivo file and it complained about an unsupported audio rate so you may need to look at some new software.

If you use free Videora converter to convert the file to an mpg then it will work fine in Premiere. Enjoy!

PS - I haven't tried this on .tivo file, but I have used it to convert DV files for editing in Premiere. These are files that never worked before using this conversion utility.
