TiVo/Home PC/Landline conflicts?

A friend of mine who just got TiVo wonders how it'll impact his ability to use his
dial-up Internet connection on his home PC.

I don't have TiVo, and know nothing about its technology--I'm essentially posting this message for him.

It won't interfere with his dialup internet. Tivo's are smart enough to only use the phone line when nobody else is using it.
