I see there is quite a bit of dedicated discussion to Direct TV and TiVo but what about Dish Network? Is their DVR somehow different? Just checking???? :confused:

Dish Networks' DVR is not based on Tivo software. It has a unique user interface and software. DirecTV's newest DVR, the R15 DVR, and future DVRs are not based on Tivo software, either.

Since I sell Dish network I can truly say that the ONLY reason I have not switched to Dish is that their DVR is such a piece of crap. I could actually save money by switching but the step down in quality is not worth the savings.

I recently got Dish Network and was told by them that I could not use my TIVO with it. However when I called TIVO to cancel and told them why the woman said that they can be used together, but DISH just wants you to buy their DVR, which is a piece of crap! The only problem I have run into is that I sometimes TIVO the bouncing DISH logo because it has powered down instead of my show, which is frustrating.

As soon as my contract with DISH is up I am switching to Direct.
