Does anyone know if it is possible to program the TV input button on the TIVO remote to actually serve as a power on/off for my receiver?

On an aside the TV video input is useless for my TV as my samsung requires the use of a "joystick" in the remote to change/select the video source.

Thanks for your ideas/help!!

Setup - Pioneer VSX-D511 with Humax Series 2 Tivo (40GB with DVD-R).

No you can't use the Tv input key for anything else but for the Tv. But can program Tv power key to turn off your pioneer receiver, in addition to the Tv.

how can you program the remote to turn off the tv and the receiver at the same time?

Do the following in the order written:

1. press and hold TV POWER & TIVO, enter the TV code
2. press and hold MUTE & TIVO, enter Pioneer Aud code 1051
3. press and hold TV POWR & TIVO, enter Pioneer AUD code 1051 again.

Is is possible to have the TV Input button control the AV receiver's input instead of the TV?

I use the TV as just a monitor so I don't have anything connected to the inputs but instead I have everything running thru the AV receiver.

I have the remote power controlling both the TV and the AV receiver after learning from JimSpence (http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?t=280451) about AV1 and AV2 codesets but would REALLY like to be able to control the AV inputs.

If it isn't possible with my receiver (Sony STR-DE898) is there a receiver that the TV Input button can control? I would be willing to buy a different receiver if this is possible (as long as it has video up-conversion to component output).

As I said, no. The TV input key is strictly for TV's.

Not the answer I was hoping for but thanks. :(

I assume no one has hacked the ROMs in the remote to customize the buttons?

Actually, that's not quite the case. You can use the Learning Mode of the remote to "learn" the input key off the receiver input button. So, I was able to program the input button on my Tivo remote by following the instructions and learning the input change button from my Pioneer receiver remote.

Works like a charm! :-)

Good luck!
