View Full Version : The Shield back in January!

I'm glad things like the Shield and 24 are around during the 'slow' months for the other networks. Though I'm disappointed only 11 eps in spring.
Leading off things in January will be the fifth season premiere of "The Shield." The series is expected to run for 11 episodes, after which it will take a break until either the fall or next January (depending upon how season three of "Rescue Me" and presumably the fourth season of "Nip/Tuck" are scheduled) when the latter half of its 21-episode season will air.

Wait a minute...they tease us with a promise of a full season and then do the same old thing? It doesn't matter if they call it one season-if there is a 3-6 month break between episodes its no different than what they've done before. And I was really excited about having the Shield on every week for 4 or 5 months...
Oh well, I'll still be watching...

Ack! I just told a Shield watching friend that the twenty-couple ep run started in January. Now I look like a bad source of TV info! ;)

I watched an episode of the TNT "Shield" ripoff called "Wanted." Talk about your pieces of crap. Man, that was horrible. Can't wait for the real thing to start again. But when is F/X finally going HD?

LoL, Shield and Wanted are totally different. Gary Cole will never have the charisma that Chiklis has.
As to the split season, it's no big deal. Monk does it and 1-800-Missing does it.

Can't wait, got the receiver ready to record! I remember my borther buying the first season and me watching it all in one night. It was too good to stop watching! Made me a fan!

The Shield is still my favorite show on TV. Please, please, please add FXHD sometime soon. FX is the worst looking channel that I watch on my HDTV.

Amen to both. FX is my favorite channel with the strongest lineup in TV. They should coin the phrase "must see TV" or something. :)
Letterboxing a crappy picture doesn't make it better! Given that Fox broadcasts all of their NFL games in HD on Superfan, they should be the leader in providing HD broadcasting and do it for their best shows on FX.

I've been wanting new episodes of The Shield so badly. After rewinding (can you say that with tivo? sometimes I say "taking it back") every commercial break during Nip/Tuck that has Shield promos, my wife is now trained. She hears Hurt come on and won't touch the remote until it's over, hehe.
Now, I realize you guys will get onto me for not having the remote in my own hand already, but we switch off. Deal with it.

So what date is the premier?
This was at the bottom of the article:
as well as the Andre Braugher-led crime drama "Thief"
Hadn't heard about this. Love Andre Braugher and any drama on FX is good.

if there is a 3-6 month break between episodes its no different than what they've done before. There's a big difference between a 3-6 month break and a 9-12 month break.

Is this supposed to be the last season?
On another TV forum I visit from time to time there was a very long heated discussion about who would win in a straight up fight, Mackey or Al Swearigen. I love Mackey but I think Al would kill him.

I'd go with Al in his prime. Vic is a thug but Al is a killer. Plus, Vic hides behind his badge a lot. It's easy to beat people up when they know they can't fight back.

Did you forget about Vic in season 1, episode 1?
Considering there wasn't much "law" back in the wild west, and Al is peeing blood and hammered most of the time, I'd go with Vic.
Love both shows, BTW.

Every time F/X has re-run all the Shield episodes leading in to a new season I have watched them, that's how good the show is.
It's probably the 4th time i've seen the 1st season, but it's still just as good as it's ever been.
And I still do a 30 second skip during Aceveda's "incident" :)

What season of The Shield is running on F/X right now? There's a block of four episodes being shown on Saturday nights, and I've been TiVo-ing them. Discovered this show maybe two weeks ago.

Yah, They started playing 3 or 4 a week a few months ago leading up to this season.
I think they are close to tne end of season 3.

Right now they are into the 4th season in the reruns. The 4th season will lead us into the events of the upcoming season.

I'm not reading any of the posts in this thread, seeing as how I'm currently working my way through the Season 4 DVD set and don't want to see any spoilers...
But this is probably my favorite show on non-premium cable...I really wish my stupid propriatary cable company carrying apartment complex had FX...grrrrr...

If you plan on trying out the Shield then I suggest you go rent season one to truly understand and love this series and you will be hooked after episode one.

I saw it on my TDL, and now I'm seeing promos during the Fox NFL games. And Forrest Whitaker joins the show. He is a SUPERB actor, and it looks like he'll be Vic's main antagonist.

I picked up the show last season (season 4) and caught on pretty quick. However, I have watched every episode from the pilot on over the last few months while FX has been running 3-4 episodes every Saturday night/Sunday morning & I can now say that I have caught up to the whole series & I love it that much more! I cannot wait until the new season starts!
As for the re-runs, set up your season pass to record all eps & you can see season four (sans the first few episodes) leading up to the new season.

I know a lot of people here aren't into commercials, but I dig the new Shield ads with "Hurt" being played...
How come "Ronnie" never gets any pictures in their ads??? In the magazine ads there's the rest of the Strike Team, and Forrest...

Most likely because they could kill him off and no one would notice. I think the most lines he's had in one episode is 3, 4 tops.

Answer off the top of my head:
He woke up from his coma, they convinced him that he beat Shane's wife, he never saw them again. With his time in the coma and the rehab he had to do it was assumed he wouldn't be back on the strike team. I'm assuming you're talking about Tevon, I don't remember another van accident :)
