View Full Version : SD-DVR40 w/ bad HD, now what?

The hard drive in my SD-DVR40 went out last week. Since its out of warranty, I've decided its cheaper to go buy a new unit. My question is, what should I do with the old box? I would hate to throw it out.

Sell it on eBay.

If the Ebay price is not to your liking (definatley more than pitching into the trash), why not just get another HD? Plenty of guides out there to walk you through the process, as long as your comfortable with things like opening up a PC.
If not, by all means Ebay works like a charm.

I had someone give me an SD-DVR80 without a hardrive since is drive went dead. Wasn't worth anything on ebay with the drive so he gave it to me.
I grabbed a spare 100GB drive and with the help of this site and MFSTools I now have a DVR.
$100 with $100 rebate is cheaper then eating up one of my hard drives, but it was real fun and I didn't have to commit to 2 years.
