Haven't seen any threads since this debuted a few weeks ago. Initially everyone was wondering how they'd manage a show about eating disorders, but I've found it to be very well done. There is some comedy, but there are a lot of poignant moments as well.

As someone who struggles with weight, I'd love to find a "Belt Tighteners" group around here. The touchy-feely WW meetings just didn't do a dang thing for me. The lady who runs those BT meetings is MUCH more motivating.

All in all, after the first few episodes I find I'm enjoying this show and plan on staying with it.

I love this show!! I have all of them recorded and coverted to DVD - without commercials!! Great show, I have told all my friends about it too.

The woman that leads the Belt Tightners group was in A Dirty Shame - she played the chronic masterbater. I don't know her name.

Just wanted to post about this show.

This show is very funny in a dark sort of way FX has done it again

I love this show. My wife who hasn't seen a ep assumes that this show is makeing fun of these people cause they are sick so she will not wacth it. But I like this show alot. I liked the song at the end of the last show. it was Elton Johns "Mona Lisa's and Madd Hatters"

Glad to hear I'm not the only one enjoying it. I did check for threads before posting, and the only one I found was some speculation before it started. There haven't been any episode by episode review threads a la Rescue Me or the other shows on FX that I enjoy.

Very funny, from a highly unusual topic.

I would have belted that yoga guy, too. :o

This show is a thousand times better that the Sunny in Philadelphia show. I am glad they unpaired them on the schedule so that Starved can stand on its own.

I love this show, Starved is my favorite show on TV right now, I was worried that there has not been a lot of posts on this show, just waiting for the network to cancel my favorite show AGAIN!

Good show. The bit where the girl (I'm not great with names yet) challenged the main character to kick his binging after he revealed he was in loved her was heartbreaking - and really well acted. Great show.

Aside from 3 of the 4 main characters with eating disorders being guys, this show is really funny.

To the vegan, "Chunky Monkey doesn't actually have chunks of monkeys in it."

My understanding is that the four actors playing the main characters actually had eating disorders in real life.

I have to agree that this is one of the best comedies on right now: right up there with Entourage but a whole different feel obviously... Starved isn't pure comedy like Entourage. I know! It reminds me a bit of Sports Night, which I absolutely loved. Sports Night didn't have the same serious subject matter of course but it had the same feel to it IMO: comedy, but with a lot of meat in it.

The first ep. was OK, but I've been hooked more and more each week since.

I watched Entourage originally, but gave it up after a few episodes. While it had lots of funny parts, I just couldn't identify with the characters.

Starved, on the other hand, has characters that I can definitely identify with.

Was it just me or did the last episode of Starved begin a little late? The ending got cut off by a good 4 minutes.

Was it one of the guy's from SNL on the last epi? The guy who could puke on command and not make noise? It cracked me up. Yeah, in a sick kind of way.

I think it was Darrell Hammond, although I'm not positive that's his name. I'm almost positive he was a SNL vet.

That's my one complaint about this show: I can take any number of disgusting things, but watching someone vomit for the sake of entertainment is not my cup of tea.

Yes, that's Darrell Hammond from SNL.

I was trying to think of the show that it most reminded me of to describe it to others. I'm going with Mind of a Married Man, anyone else have one that has the same feel as Starved that hasn't been mentioned?

Swirl, when I was trying to describe Starved to a buddy of mine last week I said it was like Mind of a Married Man. They are different shows but some of the characters on Starved reminded me of those on Mind.

I have only seen two episodes so far but I am enjoying Starved.

That Sam & Billy episode was Emmy material, IMO. Certainly moreso than the mainstream, hot-wife-fat-husband-annoying-kids-and-a-dog, laugh track sitcoms which usually win in comedy categories.

Starved

Is a very impressive show. Especially when you consider the main character does a lot of the writting. The whole thing is excellent. Hope FX doesn't cancel the show.

No more Nemo Cakes?

Maybe there's one in the trash...

Since I can't do the sitcom thing, two of my favorite live action comedies are of the super-short season variety. I'll look forward to more Starved .. and the virtually ignored Significant Others.

On a mildly related note, the last two episodes of Starved's (estranged) sibling, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, saved what would've been a weak season. Very funny stuff with the old Nazi and the season finale's molestation bit. God, I just read that last sentence... Anyway, good to see TV comedy which is unapologetically for adults. Go FX.

Agree on Always Sunny. I was pretty bored and about to punt, but the last ep or two were much better. The intervention scene in the finale where he's going to touch the doll and his finger gets closer and closer... and they cut out... and the weird relative saying "touch it!"... and the two brothers standing behind everyone giving Charlie the google eyes... that was a great scene.

I'm bummed that Starved had such a short season. A very good show too IMO. Hopefully the'll both be back soon.

Agreed. My wife and I love both these shows.

I *loved* starved. I really hope it comes back. I've seen lots of reviews panning it as being tasteless, blah blah, etc. I don't get it: these same reviewers will probably be raving about South Park's new season saying it hasn't lost it's edge, etc.

Loved 'Starved' as well as 'Always Sunny in Philly'. Both these 2 shows plus 'Significant Others' need to come back!!

Is anyone making a home-made DVD of Starved Season 1 and/or Philadelphia? I really liked Starved and would like to re-watch the whole season (maybe this time I'll even have the chance to do so without getting the first or last 3 minutes cut off  ).

If so, PM me.

Or, if anyone's aware of an official DVD release for Starved, let me know (I doubt if there'd be much talk of that yet since they're not even sure if a Season 2 is coming).

Thanks.

I need the season finale desperately. Deleted it by accident and wife is very very upset with me. I could do a download from limewire or any p2p if it was available. WILL PAY EXPENSES FOR A DVD OF IT.

Looks like they're gonna be replaying this. My tivo caught it, but I can't find the schedule anywhere. IIRC, I think it's scheduled for a mini marathon on March 4.

Interesting I have 3 shows I want to re do my season passes on since DirecTV likes to mess with this channel.

I looked the other day for Starved, It's always Sunny in Philadelphia and Rescue Me.

None were listed even in reruns. But, now I see Starved has 7 episodes listed in two weeks.

Is this show coming out with Season 2 or was it canceled?
